Conversation with Nicole · 14 July 2026

Preparing the room.

Nicole is done being brought in from the edge. Across every current contract the pattern is identical: strong advice, no authorising environment, kept at arm's length, used for a piece and then ignored. What landed this morning is that the answer is not a better role. It is that she stops looking for one. The path forward is Nicole leading her own thing, with a mandate and a team, people aligning to her rather than her squeezing into rooms that do not value her. You held it as a convergence: not a breakdown, a clearing.

The conversation, and the path it points to

What came up

The frustration, in focus

Advice from the edge

GHD, Chris, Western Power, Structure WA, Kyle: the same shape every time. Strong strategic advice met with "thanks, we have incorporated that," or implemented the wrong way. She is only effective when immersed, in the room, hearing what is really happening. Consulted from the edge, she is screaming into the wind.

It is not them

And it is not new

When you asked whether this was the first time, the truth arrived: it has always been like this. She has just been too busy holding it all to see it clearly. The real release is that it was never going to be fixed by them finally listening, because no one ever has.

The deeper pattern

Being used

Nicole named it herself: they take what they want and ignore the rest. The lifelong thread, and the family lineage, of being drained without equal exchange. The invitation is not to fight it but to feel it fully. Once it is metabolised, it stops choosing her contracts for her.

The men thing

Sought, not chasing

A steady note through the morning: men are drawn to Nicole's grounded, calm presence because it reflects them back to themselves. Relationships are a pathway. People will seek her out. She will not have to chase, which is the entire point.

The turn

She does not want a role. She wants to lead.

What she actually craves: a team, a mandate, control of the outcome, mentoring, being deliberate about where the effort goes. The evidence is already in her history. The boards she has loved are the ones where the CEO effectively let her act as executive chair. Infrastructure WA. The chair role where she genuinely ran it. So the move is to take the word "job" out of the field entirely, and build the thing where she is the one who leads.

Boards, refined

A yes, and, not a chase

Not the goal in themselves. Held loosely, boards are connection pathways that open later opportunities, both here and overseas, and only where she would actually lead.

Already built

Not starting from scratch

The threshold document, the model, the reflections on who she is: it is already there. The next work is not invention, it is consolidation. The support arrives after she leads, not before. The right people show up once she is holding the room.

The image you held

Preparing the room

This was the centre of it. The convergence clears the cluttered room. Nicole ends up standing at the head of a cleared, silent space, and her first work is to design it: the aesthetic, the furniture, who comes in. Then she speaks, and new people arrive as new energy, no preconceptions, no old baggage, ready to listen and act.

What is the room I am preparing? And what does preparing it actually look like?

The part that is not a coincidence

The room is already the heart of her own model. The Me to We Operating Model's central principle is composing, curating, the rooms. The vision that arrived this morning is the same image her trademarked method is built on. The channel and the strategy are pointing at the same door.

The steer underneath it: Nicole is the channel, so the work is frequency before the how. Come back to herself, out to the big picture, back to herself. Get the alignment right and the how, the money, the people, the opportunities, is not hers to force. That is what the potentials work has been protecting all along: keeping the field open without collapsing it into one job.

So here is the path

Each move prepares the room

Mark them as they land. The room comes into focus as you go.

Three movements · eight moves · one destination

01

Ground

Now · this week

Pull the WA Plus lessons

Mine what that model actually taught you, then name it plainly.

Sit in the empty room

One question: what am I preparing? Feel it, do not solve it.

Open the map on the big screen

The node map, on the computer, not the phone.

02

Consolidate

Next · your side

Gather the pieces into one field

The threshold document, the Me to We model, the who-she-is reflections. One place.

Send the plot

Forward yesterday's plot to Nicole.

Keep the field open

Potentials, not job-hunting. Nothing forced.

03

Rise

As it clarifies

Let the room take shape

The offer, the structure, the venture come into focus once the alignment lands.

Open the board doors, here and overseas

Boards as connection pathways, only where she leads. Local and international, both in play.

The room, prepared

She stands at the head of the room and speaks.

The noise has cleared. New people arrive as new energy, no old baggage, ready to listen and act. She does not chase them. They align to her.

The room is ready. Everything you built was already pointing here.

Anchors to hold

It is not them. It is alignment.
Lead first. People align to her.
The scaffolding already exists.
The convergence is doing the work.

Quiet threads, kept so nothing is lost: your tracking app is sharpening where your time goes, Bessie's tutoring build is moving, and the ECF that wiped itself reads as a frequency no, not a failure.
